General Guidelines:
Disabled Access:
All trains and stations are handicapped accessible. Train personnel will assist in boarding and de-training. Personal Care Attendants (PCAs - people employed to assist individuals with disabilities) are eligible to ride the commuter railroads free when accompanying a passenger with a disability. Where required, the PCA must carry identification which shows that he or she is employed by an agency that provides services to people with disabilities.
Passengers with disabilities are encouraged to call 1-877-CTrides (1-877-287-4337) at least 24 hours in advance of travel if they are requesting boarding assistance while using a mobility device.
Restrooms:
Lavatory facilities are available on-board, located in the cab control car of each CTrail Shore Line East train - please feel free to inquire with any crew member of its location. Lavatory facilities are also available at the following stations: New London, Old Saybrook and New Haven's Union Station.
Service Animals and Pets:
Trained service animals assisting passengers are permitted without restriction. All pets must either be leashed or confined in a closed, ventilated container to be permitted on board the train. Pets must not present a security concern or disturb other passengers.
Smoking and Electronic Cigarettes:
Smoking and the use of electronic nicotine delivery systems (vapes, e-cigarettes, vape pens, e-hookahs) is prohibited on all CTrail trains, in station buildings, and on platforms.
Baggage:
Items able to be safely carried and stored by the passenger are permitted on board. Items likely to cause safety hazards or inconvenience to fellow passengers or crew are not permitted.
Bicycles:
Bicycles are permitted on board SLE trains operating between New Haven and New London (including all intermediate stations) only. All bicycles must be stored in a safe and secure manner to allow for emergency egress by passengers. The cyclist should remain in close proximity to the bicycle and must obey instructions of the train crew. Bicycle groups should contact CTrides at 1-877-CTrides (287-4337) prior to travel to ensure space availability. Passengers traveling outside of CTrail Shore Line East’s New Haven – New London route should direct inquiries to Amtrak at (800) 872-7245 and/or the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA - Metro-North) at (212) 532-4900 for their current policies.
Lost and Found:
All items found on-board CTrail Shore Line East trains are returned to New Haven’s Union Station Lost and Found Department.
The Lost and Found Department can be reached by calling (203) 773-6176. Please feel free to call 1-877-CTrides (1-877-287-4337) with any questions on the Lost and Found process.
