As part of the state’s effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, effective Monday, March 16th, all weekday (Monday - Friday) CTrail Shore Line East trains will operate on a weekend schedule, with extra trains available.

• Extra Weekday trains:
  • Westbound (To New Haven):
    • 3609 departing New London at 5:24 AM
    • 3615 departing Old Saybrook at 7:48 AM
    • 3647 departing Old Saybrook at 4:27 PM
  • Eastbound (To Old Saybrook):
    • 3630 departing New Haven at 3:25 PM
• Weekend trains will continue to operate as scheduled on their respective days - there are no extra trains available on Weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Please reference this schedule for all travel Monday - Friday until further notice
• Avoid the ticket windows and save time by using our new CTrail eTix app for CTrail Hartford Line, CTrail Shore Line East, and connecting New Haven Line (Metro-North) train tickets. Click here for more information.
• Amtrak is not cross-honoring SLE Multi-Ride Tickets on their trains during this time
• Effective 3/19: All cash sales are suspended for all trains. Please use the CTrail eTix app or a ticket vending machine (where available) to purchase tickets.
• CTrail Shore Line East through trains to/from Stamford are not running during this time; customers must transfer to Amtrak or New Haven Line services at New Haven Union Station
• New Haven Line (Metro-North) operating a reduced daily schedule beginning Monday, April 13. Please double check all connections at MTA.info/mnr.
• All CTrail Shore Line East customers should refer to Amtrak Northeast Corridor and New Haven Line (Metro-North) schedules for connection information

At CTrail, the safety of our customers and employees is of the highest importance. We are taking actions based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other public health experts. These actions, which began the week of March 1, 2020, are being conducted for all CTrail Hartford Line, CTrail Shore Line East, and New Haven Line (Metro-North) commuter rail services. These measures include:

• Nightly sanitizing of all trains including an interior wipe down of high contact surfaces using cleaning and disinfection protocols from the CDC
• Station operators have increased cleaning of stations using CDC-recommended cleaning products and methods
• At our busiest stations, Stamford, Bridgeport and New Haven, touchpoints such as door handles, escalator handrails, and elevator buttons are being wiped down multiple times each day

The State of Connecticut is taking various actions to respond to the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). CTrail is also staying in constant communication with state and federal emergency management agencies to adjust our protocols, if necessary.

We will continue to respond to the latest on COVID-19 with the safety of our customers and employees as our highest priority.

Attention CTrail Shore Line East Customers:

The following Amtrak trains will have schedule adjustments beginning Monday, March 16. Please note, only passengers with a valid CTrail Shore Line East Multi-Ride ticket (Monthly, 10-trip, 10-trip UniRail, Monthly UniRail) are able to ride these Amtrak trains at the CTrail Shore Line East fare. If you do not have any of these ticket types and would like to take one of these trains, you will need to purchase a one-way ticket through Amtrak. For ticket purchases, please call 800-872-7245 or visit Amtrak.com. Additionally, the U-Pass is not accepted on these or any other Amtrak trains operating between the RI/CT border and the CT/NY border.

Attention CTrail Shore Line East Passengers:

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced today the launch of CTrail eTix, a smartphone-based mobile ticketing application, for CTrail Shore Line East and CTrail Hartford Line customers.

With CTrail eTix, passengers can now purchase CTrail Shore Line East and CTrail Hartford Line tickets, with optional connecting service on New Haven Line (Metro-North) trains, using a single device in one transaction with a credit or debit card!

Once purchased, CTrail mobile tickets are then stored electronically in a secure CTrail eTix account. When ready to use a mobile ticket, the passenger simply opens the application and presses a button to activate the ticket. After the ticket is activated, passengers then show it to the train conductor from their smartphone.

The CTrail eTix app also allows CTrail passengers utilizing the Berlin and Wallingford stations to purchase station parking.

CTrail eTix is available for free download from Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store:

Earlier today Thursday, February 6th, an Amtrak train struck a pedestrian in the Madison area causing significant service interruptions this morning. We have since resumed normal service, though minor residual delays may be expected. Passengers are advised to monitor train updates on the “Alerts” section of the CTrail Shore Line East website.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has completed two public surveys to gain public input for the procurement of the next generation of rail cars for the state’s passenger rail system. Together the surveys generated nearly 1,300 responses and provided CTDOT with a clear vision of amenities to prioritize as the procurement process moves forward.

The surveys sought public feedback on key customer amenities for the coach interiors and helped launched a public lottery to select ten participants for a Customer Advisory Panel (CAP), representing a cross-section of all rail lines serving the state as well as four advocates representing disability rights organizations, bicyclists, pedestrians and the Connecticut Rail Commuter Council.

Results from both surveys reflect input from a customer base with diverse needs and preferences, yet many shared priorities. Read more of the survey’s findings in the CTDOT’s official press release, here.

• Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24: trains will operate on a modified weekday schedule:

• Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25: trains will operate on a weekend/holiday schedule
• New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, December 31: trains will operate on a regular weekday schedule

To accommodate CTrail customers during the Thanksgiving holiday, CTDOT will be providing additional service on CTrail Shore Line East for November 27.

November 27 Service:

• Trains 1685, 1634, 1642, and 1670 will operate on November 27 only.
• Trains 1640 and 1668 will NOT operate on November 27.

CTrail Shore Line East will operate on a weekend/holiday schedule for Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, 2019 and Friday, November 29, 2019.

When users search for CTrail Shore Line East trains using Google Maps’ transit feature, a server error is causing incorrect train information to display. Attention CTrail Shore Line East Customers:

This morning CTrail Shore Line East train service was disrupted due to a malfunctioning track switch in Guilford. This resulted in delays of CTrail Shore Line East trains 1600 and 1621 and the cancellation of CTrail Shore Line East train 1627. Amtrak immediately dispatched emergency crews to make repairs when the issue was discovered. However, the switch malfunction required a temporary hold on train traffic, resulting in the cancellation of one train and additional delays.

The issue has since been corrected, and CTrail Shore Line East trains are currently running on or close to schedule.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this incident.

Attention CTrail Shore Line East Customers:

A new CTrail Shore Line East schedule will take effect Monday, September 30, 2019. Details are as follows:

• The CTrail Shore Line East weekend schedule will be in effect for Saturdays, Sundays, and the following holidays:
  • November 28 and 29, 2019
  • December 25, 2019
  • January 1 and 20, 2020
  • February 17, 2020
• The following trains will operate on November 27 and December 24 ONLY:
  • SLE 1634, 1642, 1670, 1685
• The following trains will NOT operate on November 27 and December 24:
  • SLE 1640, 1668
• The following trains will operate on November 29, January 20, and February 17 ONLY:
  • SLE 3609, 3615, 3630, 3647
• SLE trains 1699 and 3699 do NOT have Metro-North connections. Customers should take an earlier train to confirm travel beyond New Haven.
• Double-check the schedule for any other possible minor train time changes.
• Refer to New Haven Line schedules for New Haven Line schedule changes.
• Select Amtrak trains allow cross-honoring of CTrail Shore Line East Multi-Ride tickets.
• Students at participating U-Pass CT schools can use the U-Pass aboard ALL CTrail Shore Line East trains. U-Pass is NOT accepted aboard any Amtrak train, including those trains listed on the schedule that accept CTrail Shore Line East Multi-Ride tickets. More details at CTrides.com/u-pass.

Select CTrail Shore Line East trains will be changing boarding locations at Branford Station Only for today, August 2nd, Saturday, August 3rd and Sunday, August 4th. All other station boarding assignments remain unchanged.

For today, August 2nd:

• Eastbound Trains 1626, 1632, 1636, 1638, 1640, 1644, 1656, 1668, 1674, 1682 will be boarding on Track 2.
• Westbound Trains 1667, 1671, 1675, 1687, 1691, 1693, 1695, 1697 will be boarding on Track 1.

On Saturday, August 3rd AND Sunday, August 4th:

• Westbound Trains 3613, 3621, and 3629 will be boarding on Track 2.
• Westbound Trains 3637, 3645, 3653, 3655, 3661, and 3673 will be boarding on Track 1.
• Eastbound Trains 3600, 3604, 3610, 3618 will be boarding on Track 1.
• Eastbound Trains 3626, 3034, 3638, 3042, 3652, and 3658 will be boarding on Track 2.
